Is Apple Returning to iWorld to Launch High-Resolution Screens for New iPads?

by Holly Shoemaker

The industry trade publication Digitimes has reported that Apple will launch two new iPads in January at the Macworld|iWorld expo event being held from January 26-28, 2012 in San Francisco, Calif. The new iPads claim to have high-resolution screen displays similar to the 9.7-inch screens on the iPad and iPad2.

This seems like an interesting humor as Apple is not set to show products at this expo, formerly known as Macworld. Apple has not participated in this event since 2009. Sources within Apple have also said the company will not have an iPad launch at iWorld.

Concluding Thoughts

At this time, there are conflicting stories circulating. It does appear Apple has geared up to make some changes, but the company will not comment on specifics. I am not surprised that Apple will not comment. However, I am surprised that a trade publication that typically reports accurate information would make a claim without having verification. To me, it seems unlikely that Apple’s secrecy would extend to denying taking part in a trade show. New leadership will certainly want to offer some new features to its iPads in 2012, but Apple would not need to debut these new screens at a trade show event it abandoned. The world will know soon enough how Apple will announce this latest feature.
