Will the Kindle Fire Help the Android Market Sizzle?

by Holly Shoemaker

The Android market will likely see an increase in activity thanks to Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Although many people may think anything Kindle is just an eBook reader, the Kindle Fire offers Android apps and a web browser. This means that developers have the ability to design apps specifically for this device. This allows the Android market to keep gaining market shares and it opens up even more possibilities for users looking to purchase a tablet.

The Kindle Fire could become the tablet of choice from a non-business perspective as Amazon has strategically marketed the new device to individuals as an alternative to other Android tablets. At a price point of $199, the device is cheaper than other tablets that operate on the Android market. It also offers an economic alternative for first-time tablet users.

Concluding Thoughts

Opinions will differ regarding if the Kindle Fire will impact profits for other Android tablets and even iPads. It comes down to the features a user wants. The Kindle Fire does not offer as many features as other tablets, but the device does represent Amazon well. It also makes a statement that Amazon will likely continue to upgrade its Kindle line of products without having to cater to the standards of Google. This also offers developers the opportunity to produce apps and market them to another type of clients.
